We met Erich Hunkeler and his wife in the small village of Sommentier in the canton of Glarus. His father was a cheesemaker and his maternal grandfather as well. We can say that Erich fell in the cauldron since his childhood!
The production of Gruyère AOP and Vacherin AOP is also part of this smaller cheese factory. But if Erich is best known for his famous “Petit Glânois”, which he makes in a cauldron. Approximately 3 to 4,000 pieces are made each year from the milk of cows located in the direct vicinity of the dairy.
