We bring you the bounty of celebration with our Gourmet Box by Drink Moi featuring the Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut from Boutillez-Marchand. A boutique grower Champagne not easily found in Switzerland, paired with Swiss artisanal cheeses that will tantalize your tastebuds!

Once again, Sommelier and Wine Educator, Marc Checkley has provided us with an exclusive wine tasting video.  He will share anecdotes and wine tasting notes to enhance your enjoyment of this remarkable wine from the Champagne region of France.

Champagne Edition

Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut

Champagne, Boutillez-Marchand

Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut

Grape :  100% Chardonnay

Wine Style :  Dry, extra-brut – less than 4 g sugar per liter

Characteristics : White flowers, Mirabelle plums, buttery lemon pie

Serving recommendation :  10 degrees Celsius. Take out of the fridge 10 mins before popping.

Interesting Fact :  A recent study by Heineken found that an average bottle of champagne contains more than 250 million bubbles!

Characteristics :  A soft cheese ripened 20 days

Type of milk :  Ewe’s milk, thermized

Tasting Notes :  Dolly is a dreamy-soft, bloomy rind cheese made with fresh ewe’s milk harvested in the Springtime. This artisanal cheese transports you to the meadows with its light grassy notes. It envelopes your senses with its melting center.

Serving suggestion :  Allow the flavors to bloom by letting it rest for 30 minutes before serving. Dolly is also a delight when baked and topped with sweet red berries.

Characteristics :  A soft, bloomy white rind cheese aged 20 to 30 days

Type of milk :  Cow’s milk, thermized

Tasting Notes :   Tender texture and a creamy mouthfeel, this artisanal cheese has buttery notes mingling with earthy mushrooms.

Serving suggestion :  Sublime when spread over a crusty baguette or try with the Jalapeño Jelly for a spicy kick.

Characteristics :  A hard cheese carefully aged for 18 months

Type of milk :  Cow’s milk, thermized

Tasting Notes :  A bold character cheese that is salty, nutty with herbal notes.

Serving suggestion :  Chisel off chunks and serve on your next cheese board.  Or grate over freshly prepared pasta dishes.
